The Tecno F2 is actually an upgrade to the Tecno F1 and comes with almost the same features as the F1 save the increase in RAM and bolder design.
It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, which is quite disappointing because some new phones of a similar price category are pre-installed with the more advanced OS, Android Oreo (Go Edition).
Follow me in this review of Tecno F2 as I point out the good and ugly parts of the phone.
Tecno F2 comes with the same build and design as Tecno F1. It features a plastic body with slightly curved edges for a firm grip.
The rear is quite plain and only features a camera and a dual flash, both of which are located at the top right corner of the phone. A Tecno logo is also embossed on the rear a little bit below the camera.
There’s no fingerprints sensor on the Tecno F2.
The volume and power buttons are located are on the right-hand side while the left-hand side has no feature at all.

The front of the Tecno F2 features a massive 5 inch IPS screen with an 854 X 480 pixels display.
While the 5-inch screen is applaudable, I cannot say the same of the 854 X 480 pixels display. The pixels display is just not much for displaying quality images or videos.
I believe Tecno did reduce the pixels display to keep prices down. So, this poor display shouldn’t be a problem since the phone is quite cheap.
One thing I’ve found is that you probably won’t notice the display difference until you hold the F2 in contrast with another phone of better quality.

For a phone as cheap as the Tecno F2, I believe the 5MP rear camera and 2MP selfie camera is a good bargain.
You probably shouldn’t expect much from the entry-level cameras. Both cameras may not be able to compete with lots of images on social media today but are an excellent choice for capturing moments with yourself or with family and friends.

Tecno F2 sports an Octa-core MediaTek MT6580 CPU which is clocked at 1.3GHz.
It combines its midrange processor with 1GB RAM for better performance. The 8GB internal storage can be expanded to 32GB for more storage space.
The F2 is a fast device with a reasonable multitasking ability. But don’t get too confident to run several apps at the same time.
The smartphone is powered by a 2000mAh battery. When fully charged, it will give about 7 hours standby time with heavy browsing on 3G network. When used less, expect more than a day standby time.

The Tecno F2 is a great device, especially as an entry-level smartphone.
For those who are not social media crazed or not much into gaming, the F2 will make an excellent choice.
