10 Best Virtual Reality Games to Play

VR games have not developed to the point where we can have amazing experiences as those painted in Ready Player One (movie), but that doesn’t mean we won’t get there someday.

Take for instance…

A few years ago, getting your hands on a stable VR was quite difficult if not almost impossible.

And the few good ones available were quite expensive and out of most gamers outreach (financially).

But today, there’s a wide choice of premium devices to choose from … ranging from the Oculus Rift to HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, Oculus Go,  and a plethora of games that we probably may not be able to run through in a lifetime … all at very affordable prices.

Developers are continually looking for the best ways to make VR games more stable and at the same time make the experience as real as possible. When it comes to VR, the future is promising.

Below are my top choices of VR games. There are several other ones out there but so far, these are the best for me and you probably should check them out.

1. Beat Saber

If you love star wars, you probably should get on board with Beat Saber. In this game, your task is to slice oncoming cubes with coloured laser lightsabers. Each cube comes with a directional arrow which indicates the direction you’ll need to cut through. This makes the game even more challenging.

The music and colours give it its futuristic feel. The game involves active participation in slashing and even a few dance steps too; it involves good rhythms combined with beautiful colour sparks from each slash. It feels like a race through the dance floor with lots of actions, music and noise.

Available: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, Windows Mixed Reality.

2. Echo Arena

Echo Arena is a whole new “ball” engineered for VR. The game features a team of flying robots in a zero gravity arena. Your task is to play with the opposing team and score as many goals as you can by dribbling through opponents and throwing a disc through the opponent’s goal.

This may sound familiar (like the football) but the developers give a new twist to the game. For instance, it features a set of flying teams and team members can ride on the back of each other and then throw themselves forward to give an impressive speed. Head on collisions, attacks, and defence are all permitted.

Available: Oculus Rift

3. Rez Infinite

Rez Infinite is a third person VR game. This means you’ll see your virtual self moving about. The game tells the story of a computer virus on a mission through a system (think matrix) to save the system controlling AI from self-destruction (definitely sounds like The Matrix). As you journey to save the system, you must fight against various oppositions including other viruses in the system, and destroy them.

Rez Infinite is definitely worth a try, especially as it features an all-round 3D projection of each digital character.

Available: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR

5. The Talos Principle VR

Nothing beats solving puzzles in a VR environment. If you love puzzles, The Talos Principle VR game should be on your list of must-play games.

6. Wilson’s Hearts

We all love horrors; be it stories, movies or even games. Now, horror is available in VR.

7. Farpoint

In Farpoint, you’ll encounter deadly aliens while travelling through a dangerous environment in order to unravel the truth about the mysterious death of your research teams.

Farpoint is PlayStation’s first VR game to utilize the PS VR Aim, a gun-shaped physical controller that allows you to mimic real-life shooting in the VR world. This makes the game even more engaging as you get to move your arms around and aim at targets.

8. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

You think you know your friends, right? Well, this game might want to put that to test. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a great game to play with friends. It requires a minimum of 2-6 players.

In the game, you and your friends will need to defuse a bomb before it explodes and kills you all. But you’ll be divided into two teams. Team A with the manual on how to defuse the bomb and Team B works to defuse it.

Both teams will need to work together and communicate with one another to achieve this aim. The bomb is timed and as such you have a limited time to complete the task. Also, a few mistakes can cause the bomb to go off.
