Xiaomi Mi 8 pro is a giant 6.21-inch smartphone featuring an AMOLED screen with a full HD 2248 x 1080 pixel resolution. It is a superior smartphone and has every right to be compared to Apple’s premium device, iPhone X, in every way except price.
Mi 8 pro features an IN display fingerprint sensor, unlike the Mi 8 version. This sort of fingerprint sensor is built into the phone’s screen, unlike others that are found on the rear or home screen.
The device also boasts of a premium metallic all round body and an intricate camera system for superb photography.
Below is the review of Xiaomi Mi 8 pro and its impressive specs sheet along with my thoughts on its greatest strengths and weaknesses.

Design and Display
Xiaomi Mi 8 pro features the superior all-metal body design with an aluminium frame encasing its entire body complemented with a premium transparent rear finish that provides users with a rare opportunity to glance under the hood without dismantling the smartphone. This is arguably the first of its kind.
This transparent feature is, however, available on the black variant only.
The device features an incredible 6.21-inch premium AMOLED screen with a full HD resolution. This allows you to view images or watch HD movies on your mobile phone with high-quality graphics display.
The camera saw the major upgrade from the original Xiaomi Mi 8. The pro version comes with a 12MP dual camera setup positioned vertically with a flash in between.
The primary 12MP sensor has an f/1.8 lens and 1.4-micron pixels while the other has an f/2.4 lens and 1.0-micron pixels. The increased pixel coupled with better software algorithms makes the Mi 8 pro a better photographer.
Like the Huawei P20, the 8 pro features an AI-powered camera software. This software is aimed at improving your selfie and image quality by automatically switching the camera mode to the best setting to give the best quality image each time you use the camera.
The phone comes with a massive 20MP front camera for selfies; it also supports the face unlock technology.
One word: superb!
The performance is quite impressive. Apps launch without any delay and games play fluidly without any lags or glitches. This is not surprising as it is powered by a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845, which is one of the fastest chipsets in the world today. This combines with Octa-core processors clocked at speeds of 1.8GHz and 2.8GHz to give an impressive outcome.
The combined processors run with the support of a massive 6GB or 8GB RAM, depending on the variant you pick.
The triple camera phone comes in two variant; one with 64GB and another 128GB internal storage. Both variants don’t provide any space for an external micro SD card. You probably won’t be needing that anyways as both already provide you with more than enough space to store your files.
Xiaomi MI 8 pro is powered by a massive 3000mAh Li-Po non-removable battery. The battery capacity is guaranteed to supply enough power to keep the phone awake for several hours even with constant usage. It supports both quick charging and wireless charging technology.
