Gionee S6s is a Great Performer Smartphone for Gionee Fans

Gionee S6s has only two color options — Mocha Gold and Latte Gold. I believe this is quite limiting but, nonetheless, beautiful if you’re a lover of gold.

Apart from its limited color series, it’s an impressive smartphone with a great spec sheet.

The phone is a great performer thanks to its massive RAM and internal storage space. It also features excellent cameras for capturing interesting moments and a large high definition screen for displaying images and videos.

However, the build and design are the standard for a phone with such impressive specs. Gionee should have opted for a more competitive design like Tecno did for its Camon series.

But don’t take my word for it. Read through this review of the Gionee S6s and find out for yourself what it has to offer and if it can meet your needs. After all, you’re going to use it — not me.

Build and Design Style of Gionee S6s

The build is more like every regular phone build we’re already used to; a flat rectangular block with slightly curved edges. The design is not stylish in any way but I love its smooth finish and the almost non-existent vertical bezels. Though the bottom and top bezels are a huge disappointment for me.

The top bezel houses a speaker, selfie camera, and a flash while the bottom is home to the three capacitive keys: home, menu, and back.

Gionee S6s sports an all-metal rear covering and is quite plain safe for the rear camera located above the fingerprint sensor and a flash. You’ll also find the newly redesigned Gionee logo just below the fingerprint sensor.

The left-hand side of the phone houses the sim tray while the right-hand side houses the volume and power buttons.

That’s all about the build of the smartphone. I told you. It’s a pretty straightforward design.

Good Cameras

It comes with a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera, which I believe is a good bargain for a phone at its price.

Pictures taken with both cameras are quite impressive but if you want bigger cameras then you should check out the Gionee X1s or even Tecno Camon CX Air. Both come with a lower storage and RAM compared to S6s, though.

Aside from coming with common camera modes like panorama, mood photo, slow motion, smart scene and so on, the Gionee S6s also has the ability to convert texts on images into texts. So, you can just snap a document and convert it to text instead of painfully typing it out.

Massive Internal Storage and Impressive Performance

S6s comes with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset, which is based on the 28nm process and clocked at 1.3GHz. It combines this with a 3GB RAM for good speed and quick app launching.

It also features a 32GB internal storage which is twice those found in the Camon CX Air and Gionee X1s. A good justification for the slightly higher price.

Overall, Gionee S6s is a good performer and can handle the Android system effortlessly without lags or crashes.

Average Battery Life

The device sports a 3150mAh battery. This is pretty standard and can give you about 12 hours of standby time with heavy browsing over 3G network.

Aside from its average design and big top and bottom design, I’ve no problem with the Gionee S6s. It’s a great performer, comes with good cameras, sharp displays, and a good price tag too.
