Nokia 6 (2017) or Nokia 6 (2018) — Which Should You Go For?
Nokia 6 and Nokia 6 are quite different.
This isn’t a mix-up.
Nokia 6, the original version, was released in 2017 and runs on Android v7 Nougat. While Nokia 6, the 2018 upgrade, comes with Android v8 Oreo. The latter also has a bigger RAM, sturdier processor, and enlarged internal storage.
So we have two Nokia smartphones under the same name, Nokia 6. This review gives you all you need to know about both models.

Design And Display
Being among the first batch of smartphones running on Android software, I’d expect the Nokia 6 to come with an entirely different design. But it seems Nokia thought differently. The Nokia 6 comes with a 2014 body design inspired by the Lumia series.

The body design is not a deal breaker as the phone rather feels premium. The body is lined with aluminum to give it a sleek look, but don’t be deceived, the rear cover is all plastic and can often feel wobbly.
The display is where everything gets interesting. The Nokia 6 comes with a massive 5.5-inch screen and a1080 x 1920 full HD resolution. With this display, you can enjoy your full HD videos without any color problem.
At the bottom bezel, you’ll find the capacitive buttons. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the home button for the 2017 version but positioned at the back for the 2018 version.

Storage
Nokia 6 comes with a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage expandable up to 256GB with a micro SD card. Compared to the original version which comes with a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, the 2018 version offers you more space for your files and media.
Both models come with the hybrid sim technology and as such, you can either use two nano SIM cards with no micro SD card or a SIM card with a micro SD card.

The original Nokia 6 model sports a Snapdragon 430, which is a bit disappointing as the processor is not enough to handle the Android system and can’t multitask properly.
The 2018 version, however, comes with an even sturdier Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 CPU. This combined with its abundant 4GB RAM gives you a super fast device with excellent multitasking ability.

Camera
Both models feature a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.
In a marketplace where cameras are a huge factor, it’s important to have high-resolution cameras on new smartphones.
The camera is okay. But for the sake of competition, I believe Nokia should have opted for a more rugged camera especially now that we’re all interested in high-quality selfies.
Battery
Nokia 6 comes with a standard 3000mAh Li-ion battery. With a single charge, you can expect 12-15 hours standby time with a heavy usage.

Conclusion
Lagging and poor multitasking ability were a problem with the original Nokia 6 model. The recent upgrade comes with a bigger RAM and a better processor to step up its performance and at the same time, step up the price. It’s a good idea to save up and go for the recent Nokia 6 model as it’ll give you better performance.
