Infinix Hot 6X is an Upgrade to Its Predecessors

Infinix mobility is definitely doing the ‘sex’ wordplay on us again. First, it was the Hot S3X and now Hot 6X. Seems the company is in for a bit of fun (or joke).

But the Infinix HOT series is anything but a joke. Hot 6X is a premium device worthy of admiration in all respect.

It is an upgrade to the Hot 6 and the Hot 6 Pro. Like all other smartphone upgrades, it also came as an improvement upon the previous devices in the HOT series.

Sadly, those improvements were majorly in the camera department and not the processors or storage. But that’s okay since the processors of the Hot 6 and 6 Pro were already up to the task and with 16GB internal storage, what more could we want?

Infinix Hot 6X is available in four different colours and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

This review gives you the key specs of the device; its performance as well as my expectations from the company to help you make a good choice.

Body Design and Display

The first attraction of the phone for me is the little notch on the top screen. Notch has become a trend in the smartphone market and most manufacturers are making more devices to join this new trend. It’s a good thing Infinix did not leave its fans hanging by the thread.

The body of the device is made from 100% plastic, which has been polished to give it a shiny metallic look. The rear is all plain and smooth save for the Fingerprint ring depression as well as the camera system and flash.

The front screen is a giant 6.2-inch, IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 1500 x 720 pixels resolution. The 720p allows for HD videos while the 6.2-inch screen size provides a huge space for comfortable viewing experience and gaming.

AI Powered Camera System

AI Powered Camera System is fast becoming a trend for the smartphone market, and probably the only things phone manufacturers seem interested in improving (sad).

Infinix Hot 6X comes with a dual 13MP + 2MP rear camera with dual flash and an AI-powered 8MP front camera for selfies.

The AI selfie camera supports Face ID for easy device unlock, AI beauty mode as well as the Bokeh mode which improves selfie quality by blurring out the background. This way, your selfie comes out sharper and more focused on you.

Expected Internal Storage

Hot 6X still runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 CPU as the Infinix 6 and 6 Pro. The CPU consists of 4 cores and clocks at a maximum speed of 1.3GHz. This is supported by a 2GB RAM in some variants while others come with 3GB RAM.

As expected the 2GB RAM variant is less expensive. Infinix Hot 6X also comes with different storage options; there’s a variant with 16GB and another with 32GB. Both can be expanded up to 128GB.

Large Capacity Battery

Battery life is a huge concern for all Android users and I’m really glad Infinix took the time to come up with a huge 4000mAh battery for the Hot 6X. Users will be able to have more than a full day standby time after a full charge.
