Infinix S4 Full Review: First S-series with a Glass Back
Infinix S4 is a family of the Infinix S-series that comes after Infinix S3.
It is a beautiful and well-crafted device that is available in nebula blue, purple, and black colours. It features a gradient colour that gives a glittering effect.
S4 is the first of the Infinix S-series to feature a glass back. The appearance is generally a glass-plastic sandwiched design with a glittering effect.
It runs on Android 9 Pie operating system coupled with XOS 5.0 Cheetah user interface, which gives a premium user experience.
Display
Infinix S4 is a beautiful phone with a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen featuring a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display has an impressive viewing angle and typing is fast and responsive.
The display spots a special feature that has not been seen on any previous Infinix phone. I’m talking about the water drop notch. The presence of this smaller notch creates room for more screen space for notification icons. You have the option of hiding this notch if you don’t want it. But this will mean sacrificing all of the horizontal space within that region.
S4 has a screen resolution of 720p, unlike the 1080p found on Note 5 & Note 5 stylus.

Physical Appearance
Infinix S4 is a bit slimmer than it’s predecessor. The front of the phone is bezel-less and features on-screen navigation buttons with the front camera situated at the top.
Moving to the back, you’ll find a triple camera setup — vertically arranged.
The SIM tray, housing two 4G LTE nano-SIM and SD card, is fixed to the left of the phone while the power and volume buttons are found on the right. Unlike some Infinix phones like Note 4 Pro, there’s nothing on the upper side of this phone. The 3.5mm headphone jack, micro USB port, and speaker grills are placed at the bottom.
Storage & Performance
The device comes with a large storage space of 32GB and a reliable RAM of 3GB. The good news is that there is a variant that offers you larger space and more reliability; it offers 64GB storage space and 6GB RAM.
As for performance, the Helio P22 processor does a great job as it handles your social media apps and everyday task well. You can confidently use the device for multitasking without any worries. If you’re, however, a super-heavy user and will be leaving a lot of apps running on the background for a long period of time, you should consider getting the version with the larger storage and memory.
As expected, the device was designed with security in mind. The face ID is both fast and reliable. It opens your phone without any itch even in low-lit lightning conditions. The fingerprint sensor is also secure and even preferable in darker environments. Although, it’s not as fast.

S4 is built with a front 32MP camera that isn’t accompanied by a front flash. It spots a vertically arranged triple back camera; the first one is pegged at 8MP for depth sensing, the second and the middle one is 13MP, and the third, which features an ultra wide-angle lens, is 2MP.
Infinix Mobility definitely has Nigerians in mind when designing this phone. It is blessed with a huge 4000mAh battery that can power the phone for 2 whole days while on Wi-Fi. This usage time will definitely be reduced when you use your phone data to browse. Other factors like the number of apps you run at the same time will also determine your own usage time.
Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t come with fast charging support. But charging the phone from 0% to 100% takes about 2 hours and 12 minutes.

User Interface
The combination of Android 9 Pie and XOS 5 Cheetah gives an impressive user experience. The interface comes with a few additions.
The system navigation buttons give you the feel of using Android One. And even better, is the flexibility of customizing your back key placement. Place it on the right or left; whichever position suits you.
Infinix S4 allows you to have up to 9 apps and 3 utility tools floating on your interface. Getting into these apps only requires you to swipe to the side, and you’re in. This feature can be turned off if it doesn’t impress you.
Moving to the settings menu, you’ll find that the icons have a beautiful appearance. The quick settings (the settings tray you access by swiping down from the top) have been blessed with additional toggles, which include bike mode and read mode. The bike mode is similar to flight mode. But it mutes your calls for only two hours. The read mode can be compared to eye care. Just that, read mode automatically adjusts the brightness while the eye care is manually adjustable.
Right out of the box, the phone comes with usual apps like Xhide, Xtheme, and App Lock. It also features some (unnecessary) apps we mostly don’t use. You can delete those ones.
What’s in the Box?
The phone will definitely arrive with a large entourage as usual. Accompanying the device are the SIM ejector tool, quick start guide, warranty booklet, XClub registration guide, earphone, charger, micro USB cable, film screen protector, and silicone jelly case.
Wrap Up
Infinix S4 is a recommended device that’s worth the money. You get a lot of new features that aren’t found on previous Infinix phones and you lose a few features. Using this phone means you’ll sacrifice some features like the front flash and notification LED.
