Review and Features of Google Pixel 3 XL
The third generation of Google Pixel, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, skips the standard aluminium design of the previous generations and comes with the all-glass design.
The all-glass body, though fascinating, has always been omitted from smartphone designs due to its fragile nature.
But then, the recent preference for wireless charging has made most manufacturers opt for the glass body as it allows for the integration of fast Qi wireless charging.
Google Pixel 3 XL comes with this glass design sandwiched with a little aluminium for more durability.
The Google Pixel 3 XL (extra large?) is the larger version of the Pixel 3. I’ve written a detailed review of the Pixel 3 also, so you might want to check that out especially if you’re looking for something less expensive but similar to the XL in specs.
This review focuses exclusively on Google Pixel 3 XL and its specs.
Design
Pixel 3 XL doesn’t look radically different from Pixel 3. Although it comes with a bigger body size, that’s just about all the differences.

YES, I WANT ACCESS TO THE EXCLUSIVE TRAINING FOR FREEUnlike most manufacturers, Google still retains the front-facing speaker design; this phone comes with two of those at the top.
Unlike Pixel 3, the XL version comes with a notch. However, instead of pushing the notch design on users like other manufacturers, the company gives you the option to hide it if you are not a fan of notches. This I believe is pretty much a good idea.
At the rear side, it features a fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking of your device. There’s no headphone jack and no slot for micro SD card. And the SIM card tray has been pushed to the bottom of the device beside the USB charging port.
Google Pixel 3 XL comes in three different colours like Pixel 3; Black, Clearly White and Not Pink. It also features a contrasting coloured power button, which I must say is quite beautiful and unique to the device.

Screen Size and Display
The smartphone features a 6.3-inch OLED display with HDR support. According to Google, this is the best display ever for a smartphone.
It has an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a 1440 x 2960 pixel resolution for crisp and sharp image and video display.

Camera
Camera is the selling point of most smartphones today and Google made sure the third generation Pixels are equipped with the best cameras around.
This device is packed with a single 12.2MP main shooter and a dual 8MP selfie camera. The dual front cameras consist of ‘real shooter’ and the new ‘wide angle shooter’ which ensures your friends are not cut out of group selfies.
The superiority of the third-generation Pixel cameras is found in the AI backed software. For instance, both Pixels (3 and 3 XL) feature an AI functionality dubbed TopShot. With TopShot, your phone automatically takes a number of shots with quick succession and then picks the best out of the lots.

Memory and Processors
Google Pixel 3 XL runs on pure Android 9 Pie, the latest operating system as at 2018. The operating system is quite smooth and does not require the use of any capacitive buttons (home, menu and back).
The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset supported by a 4GB RAM. One version is equipped with 64GB RAM and another 128GB. Both variants do not provide any slot for a micro SD card.
Battery Life
Google Pixel 3 XL is powered by a 3430mAh which is a bit bigger than that of Pixel 3. The battery is guaranteed to last longer than the larger ones found in some other devices because the latest operating system has been fully optimized to run on lesser juice.
It’s good to know that the phone supports wireless charging even though the charging stand is not included in the package.

hello Fouad,
i use google pixel 3xl and i need to change my battery. Do you have an idea how to get it and the price?
thanks
ibrahim sr
It depends on your location. You can get it at major phone centres across the country. For example, Computer Village in Lagos. But if you still can’t find it, then I suggest you order it from Aliexpress.
